What is curb box water?

A curb box is a pipe with a lid that is located in the ground at the edge of a property and it provides access to the water shut-off valve. It's typically found near the street, hence its name. Curb box water refers to the water that comes from the city's water main, which is usually located under the street. The curb box connects the water main to the property's water system, allowing for water to flow through the property's pipes. In case of an emergency, a water utility worker can shut off the water supply to the property by accessing the valve through the curb box. Curb boxes are usually made from durable materials such as cast iron or concrete to withstand being buried underground.
